Instrument Criteria

We welcome donations of many different types of musical instruments. However, they must live up to certain standards. Even though Music Fund will repair the instruments if necessary, they must be in reasonable condition. Nonetheless, a high quality instrument in bad condition is more preferred than the opposite. Yet instruments of lower quality but in good condition can always be used for less ambitious projects.

Below, please view the a list of criteria for instrument condition and quality.

Pianos

At present, we do not need pianos, as many pianos have over the last years been donated to partner schools in Palestine and Africa.

GuitarsĀ

The wood guitars are more preferred tan the triplex ones (they are recognized by their lightness). The neck must not be bended, otherwise the guitar cannon be tuned or repaired.

Percussion (Cymbals, Bass Drums, Side Drums etc.)

Please verify that the wood has not moved (the shells must be cylindrical) and that screws, strainers and rods are not oxidized. The holes must be the original ones. No screws, strainers and rods can be missing, unless it is a famous brand such as Pearl, Tama, Yamaha, Sonor etc. Please verify that cymbals are not cracked.

Digital InstrumentsĀ

Please plug in the instrument to verify that the electricity flows.

Wind Instruments

The valves must close as well as possible and the air must not escape the plugs.

Violins, Altos, Cellos, Double-Basse etc.

If the industrument has ever been attacked by worms, please put it in a plastic bag. If the instrument is in a bad conduidtion, it will not be accepted. The wood holsters are not acceptetd, except for aesthetic reasons. Bows are acepted as instruments but they will not be accepted if they are broken.

Other Instruments (Triangles, Xylophones etc.)

Other instruments are accepted if they are in good condition.

We look forward to receiving quality instruments in good condition.

Thank you.
