At ALTER EGO our master luthiers use traditional techniques and materials that have withstood the test of time . spruce from the Fiemme Valley in Italy.s Dolomite Mountains, Balkan maple, and ebony from Madagascar . and if the need arises, our instruments can be repaired just about anywhere with techniques that are common to traditional liuthery. Our instruments are built to last a lifetime and to become antiques. The sound of our instruments is unique in the .electric. realm, thanks in large part to the exclusive soundboard and relative acoustical balances.

Our main concerns are with the sound and feel of our instruments. They are crafted to provide you with the sound that you want, without impairing your personal playing style. If you close your eyes and listen closely to the sound of an ALTER EGO instrument, you will not hear any difference from the sound of a traditional one.

In addition to our existing product range: 4- and 5-string violins, violas of various sizes, 4- and 5-string cellos, 4- and 5-string double basses, ALTER EGO also creates custom instruments with expertise and specialized components designed to the personal specifications of the musician.
