At the age of 7 Anton entered the local mandoline-orchestra to play the mandolin, never at that time did he realise that making musical instruments would govern the major part of his adult life. He studied aeronautical engineering, graduating in 1967 and emigrated to Australia. There he started to play the guitar seriously and got an interest in early music. He decided to play the lute but, since he could not buy one he decided to make his own. He got in touch with various museums throughout the world for information and he soon made his first instrument. After returning to Holland he set up his own workshop in Dussen in 1975 and has made over 850 instruments so far; they include classical guitars, lutes of all sorts, all instruments in the mandolin-family and also viola da gamba's.
His instruments have found their way all over Europa and even to America.
Playing the guitar has changed to building them, so giving other people a chance to play an outstanding instrument, made on request and often to the specifications and likings of the future player.
