About:
My name is Beau Hannam and I have been making high-end boutique guitars and ukuleles for the past 10 years.
My education in luthery began in 2002 when I attended the Gilet Guitars Luthery school in Sydney, Australia under the guidance of master luthier of 40 years, Gerard Gilet. During making my first guitars under Gerard, I developed a deep appreciation of everything involved in luthery, from the joy of working and creating with wood to those fellow luthiers with whom I found a unique kinship.
In the mid 2000's I was invited to join the Gilet fold first in a teaching capacity then as a full time luthier where I was further trained in the deeper facets of the craft to further perfect the fine art of making boutique guitars. Between four luthiers, we crafted only 35 high quality guitars a year, each being an individual expression of creativity and workmanship with no 'fixed' appointments at any stage. It is this fundamental principle of creativity and exquisite craftsmanship that I have continued with.
Each guitar and ukulele is an individually handcrafted custom instrument built solely by me in a purpose built, humidity controlled workshop. Here I continue to design and create each instrument as a unique piece of art and expression of its owner, combining traditional with contemporary design and construction techniques.
It is a pleasure to be able to showcase my work and I trust that every instrument seen here will be an illustration of creative woodworking design, meeting responsive and perfected musical instruments which inspire new songs.
Yours,
