Carter/Poulsen Guitars consists of Willie Carter and Eric Poulsen who together bring many years of experience in various aspects of the music industry, guitar building and fine woodworking. Together they bring two strong backgrounds that compliment and elevate them as a team and as individuals. The result is a collabaration that exceeds the sum of the parts. This synergy extends to the relationship with our clients as well. We offer a client/player focused approach. We do not intend to reinvent the steel string acoustic guitar. Our goal is to bring together the best of proven traditions and the most promising innovations in design and construction, an approach that is both modern and classic.
Willie Carter was a recording engineer for over 20 years prior to discovering his love of acoustic guitar making while studying with Sergei DeJonge in 2000. Willie’s work has been shown at both the Healdsburg and Newport Guitar Festivals.
Eric Poulsen started as a professional woodworker in 1986, and has been building steel string acoustic guitars since 1994 and opened his own shop in 2002. Eric’s work has been showcased at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival.
Carter/Poulsen guitars represent a new path to our common goal of people playing music.
