DRS Drums once calle dDrummers Repair Shop and earlier named Music Aid, confusing? Let us start from the beginning:
An amateur competition was held and we were 4 guys practicing only one time and ended up actually winning the contest. First prize was a voucher for the newly established local music store: Knud Eskildsen Music. When I picked up my prize the manager tells me that he lacks a working boy, and so here my career in the music business begins in 1974.
After trying many other things - a high school stay gave me an idea that percussion instruments would rebound in Denmark and shortly after the carnival boom hit as well. I got a job at Drum City where I worked from 1982-1999. At this point of time Birch drums was what sold most, only the Tama Superstar and later Yamaha Recording, all while I spotted that maple drums may be the next big thing, also in Denmark.
The idea of a more affordable maple series was launched and was called DC Custom Line and becomes a great success. Through countless conversations with John Good from DW comes serious drum ideas.
The drum boom creates new business opportunities and in May 2000, we are four former employees from Drum City starting Music Aid & Drummers Repair Shop. The two names stand for, respectively, a backline rental company and a drum shop. Unfortunately, we start our business in a discount period, focusing more on quantity than quality, and December 2004.
I continue alone as Drummers Repair Shop, where the foundation and heart of the business is still the workshop and intentions are high. An unwavering insistence on quality of care principles: care, compassion and above all, time! Time for the preceding considerations to the contemplation of preparation and imagination. One always knowledgeable and balanced advice to customers.
Out of this arises naturally a desire to make drums from the above principles and DRS Drums is born, one's own manufactured brand drum, with no compromises.
In February 2010 an opportunity comes along of moving to new and better premises, when my good friend and colleague since 1982 owner of the company Sound Force, Vagn Olsen, offers me a place with him in Hasselager. In the same breath it was a quite natural choice to both call the business and my own drum drum brand the same: DRS Drums.
Looking forward to see you in Hasselager.
