Rainger Effects, UK UK

About:

Set up by David Rainger in 2009, Rainger FX is a north west London-based guitar effects company, designing and building new kinds of effects pedals for today's electric guitarists.

We're aiming to provide new sounds inspired by music around right now, with a totally distinctive visual style and use. Pedals should sound great, be totally reliable, and be fun; we like LEDs a lot - and a visual representation of the sound (from a basic on/off indicator upwards) is very important.

And if the whole thing can be done simply - then that's best of all.

ABOUT DAVID RAINGER

david on carmel beachI worked as an assistant engineer in a big recording studio in the 1980s, all the while playing guitar in various bands. In 1989 I started doing more and more recording - for my own projects and other people's - and also started writing for various musicians magazines, reviewing effects pedals (and buying any that stood out) and other equipment.

For many years I wrote a monthly column where I interviewed guitar techs from big groups, finding out how top guitarists got their sound and what they were after. I also did a monthly survey of best selling gear, phoning round UK music shops, finding out what people liked.

For a while I'd been having pedals built from scratch or customised, and in the 2000s I started to make my own; just one-offs for my own personal use, but after a while realised other guitarists would be interested in using them too. So I made a bunch, and took them down to Denmark Street in London...

I've been playing rock music since the 1970s, but have always been into funk and electro too... And trying to push the envelope of guitar sounds.

Terms & conditions:

Do you ship internationally?

Yes we do. Of course costs vary, and I'll give you insured, trackable, fast/slow options.

Do you make custom orders?

I'll definitely consider it - get in touch.

Will you customise a Rainger FX pedal for me?

I'll have a go...

Can I buy a Rockpick?

No - but if you ask me very nicely I'll just send you one!

What are the PSU requirements?

9V DC (centre earthed, sleeve +9V), 200mA.

What warranty do you give?

3 years. There shouldn't be, but if there is a problem do get in touch.

How can I pay?

Paypal or electronic transfer are the usual methods.

Do you ever have any reduced-price pedals?

Quite often. Check my facebook page for mentions - or email me directly.

Do you do any stickers or T-shirts etc.

Got stickers - just ask. T-shirts - coming soon.

What other effects are you planning?

I'm planning a series of smaller, cheaper units; simpler than the current stuff, but all interestingly original and very cool-looking... Details coming soon.

Is your stuff hand-wired?

Yes.

Is it all true-bypass?

Yes. Some things - like the KIL Switch - work in an unusual way, bypass-wise, and if left in the lo-pass mode with main power off it's not true bypass (but is otherwise). And the Dr Freakenstein Fuzz original (DrFF-1) in footswitchable format is not true bypass with the knifeswitch off. It is, though, with the knifeswitch on and the effect off... I know, it's complicated...
