Vintage Ukulele Stringed Instruments For sale

The ukulele belongs to the plucked lute family and is a type of chordophone. Ukulele’s typically have a four string course and is a subset of the guitar family. Tone and volume of the instrument varies by what size and by what construction the ukulele is. The four most common sizes are soprano, tenor, concert and baritone. The ukulele was created in the 19th century as an interpretation of a Hawaiian instrument.

In the early 20th century the ukulele became popular in the USA and gained worldwide popularity from there. The most common material of a ukulele is wood, but materials like metal or plastic can be seen in use on rare occasions. Ukuleles are used in lots of types of music, and are popular for the rich tones they produce. Ukuleles originate from Hawaii and this is why you always see a Hawaiian musician holding a ukulele in TV shows and adverts.
