Vintage Fretless
Vintage Fretless Basses For sale
Fretless bass’s are modified versions of fretted bass’s, just without frets. What causes the difference in tone between Fretted and fretless bass’s is that on fretless bass’s, the strum and vibrations of the strings have to hit and rebound off the wood ( or whatever other material your bass is ) to make the distinct sound, rather than rebounding off the frets.
Fretless bass’s have a distinct sound this way, as when played, the sound is more ‘muted’ and somewhat sharper, much like the double bass. The first fretless bass was made in 1961, when a Japanese ‘fretted’ bass had the frets removed.
