L & W Vintage was started by Nashville guitarists, Brian Layson and Justin Weaver in late 2011. Both have been touring and recording professionally for over 30 years, collectively. They have both toured and recorded with many artists over the years, ranging from rock artists to bluegrass. Currently, Brian is the guitarist for Dierks Bentley and Justin is touring with Wynona Judd. Both have been longtime friends and avid vintage gear junkies.
“We wanted to create a environment for folks to buy gear that would be like a place we would want to buy in ourselves…Treat people the same way we would appreciate being treated when we buy gear, especially vintage gear. Most vintage purchases are a bit of an investment, and even risk, for people. Are you really getting what you’re being told you’re getting? Is it really a fair price? Even though this amp is “vintage”, does it genuinely sound good? Etc..We get that and understand that because we’re still customers ourselves. We want people to walk away knowing they got a great instrument but more importantly knowing they bought it from a trustworthy source and someone that’s been in their shoes many times. Plus, we don’t have to count on this to earn a living or to make a rent payment on a storefront, it’s just something we do essentially for the fun of it. We may not have gobs and gobs of inventory like a lot of vintage stores, but it’s because we are intentionally very deliberate in what we buy, sell, and consign. A lot of times, we will turn down items that most stores would HAVE to take in just to have another piece that may generate cash flow for them.”
“Through our jobs, we’re fortunate to travel on a regular basis throughout the year, and it gives us the opportunity to find great vintage guitars and amps from all over the country. We also have great relationships with other well respected dealers and a lot of touring players.”
“We wanted to keep it simple, simple, simple. High quality pictures and videos with descriptions that don’t read like a tech manual. If we’re selling it, it’s something we’d want to buy ourselves.”
Thanks for stopping by and we hope to hear from you!
