Farre 10 string classical, Epocha 2a Nr.35, 1977 Barcelona - Cedar top, Rosewood body, EC Condition, except for one repaired side crack, Pre-owned by Eric Penicaud, France, He recorded several Albums with this guitar, One of them comes with the guitar. The Guitar is set up by Noel LaPlane, Marseille.
This is a Unique possibillity to purchase a 10 string Classical of highest standards. Josep Farré Gonzales, was born 1928 and worked from 1954 to 1974 in the famous Juan Estruche workshop. J. Farre’s full name is Josep Farre Gonzalez. He was born in Barcelona in 1928, In addition to guitars, he also built laudes and bandurrias. He claims to have based his guitars on those of Jose Ramirez III, but says he also was influenced strongly by Ignacio Fleta, who he undoubted knew and admired. He retired from guitar making perhaps 10 years ago. He became well known when he started building 8 and 10 string concert guitars. Most of them are held in collections or are among Proffessional Musicians. Joseph Farre also was known for restauring several Antonio Torres guitars.
It is obvious he was strongly influenced by Jose Ramirez and Ignacio Fleta’s, luthiers he strongly admired. The way the guitar is build, Single cleated top in Fleta style, and classical spanish heel in Ramirez style. Shape and choice of woods/finish reminds of Ramirez Classical 1a models from the early seventies. The projection, playability, variety and warmth of tone of this instrument are quite exceptional. This is an absolute gem with great tone and playability!
