Ampeg / Dan Armstrong Plexi / 1971 / Lucite / Bass
Welcome to JTKM STUDIO.
The short-lived Dan Armstrong Ampeg series from 1969 to 1971 is highly regarded here at JTKM STUDIO and we seek them out whenever possible. These are incredible instruments and a true steal in todays vintage guitar market! Want to rock it like many-a rock star? Read on!
Here we have a beautiful 1971 Ampeg Dan Armstrong bass with its very cool and well-travelled original case.
The overall condition is very clean and well presented with only a few notable surface scratches to the Lucite body. The neck is very clean with some naturally worn down areas on the back of the neck making it feel very smooth and comfortable. Take a moment to check the beautiful details on the rosewood board, it really is stunning!
The frets, nut and bridge are all good and it plays perfectly. The output of the single coil pickup is strong with a reading of 5.74 ohms. The original Grover tuners are very tight with no slip and work perfectly.
There have been two changes from its original factory spec, those being the obvious changed input jack and the tone pot was changed in 1976. The volume pot remains its original CTS pot dating to 30 something week of 1970 (can’t read the last digit). Apart from these changes it is all original.
There you have it, a true bargain in the vintage guitar market and priced at a great price of £3000.
