Atkin / WOJ Aged Sunburst Prototype / Guitar

Atkin Guitars was founded in Canterbury, England, in 1995. Since then, they've grown steadily from a one-man operation building a handful of one-of-a-kind instruments each year to become one of the UK’s leading acoustic guitar makers. Still in Canterbury, now a two-man operation, they build around 80 guitars per year, each one still handmade and still completely unique. Atkin continues to impress us with every instrument that enters our shop. The passion and soul with which these instruments are built make their way straight to the eyes and ears, and make it hard not to fall in love with these outstanding sounding and great looking beauties. This prototype of the unique WOJ model was built commission for The Fellowship of Acoustics. It looks like a scaled-down slope shoulder jumbo model and has the same body width and depth (15" wide and 4" deep) as an OM. Both compact and powerful it uses mahogany for the back and sides mated to a baked Sitka spruce top all finished with a masterful Relic sunburst finish. As we've growned used to, Atkin has gone out of their way to create something that looks, feels and sounds authentically vintage but is at the same time thoroughly reliable. The shorter scale length of 632mm (24.9") and the C-shaped mahogany neck provide an extremely enjoyable and comfortable feel. Strumming, hybrid-picking, fingerstyle, you name it and this compact guitar can and will handle it with ease. This particular model, being a prototype, has two repaired cracks in the body near the neck. The cracks appeared during the bending process of the body and were carefully repaired by Atkin. Includes Atkin hardshell case.  Specifications: Body Shape: WOJ Slope Shoulder Finish: Aged Sunburst Body Material: Mahogany Top Material: Baked Sitka Spruce Lefty No Body Details: Creme body bindings, tortoise pickguard, multi-ringed rosette, scalloped X bracing Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: C-shape Fingerboard Material: Santos Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 16” Neck Details: Pearl dot inlays, walnut headstock overlay Nutwidth: 43 mm - 1 11/16" Scale Length: 632 mm - 24 7/8" String spacing: 56 mm - 2 3/16" Bridge: Santos Rosewood Tuners: 3-on-a-plate closed back Kluson Pickup Yes : K&K Pure Mini Condition: New Cosmetic Condition: None Modifications/, Repairs: Two repaired cracks where the body meets the neck during the production process Tech Notes: None Travels in: Hardshell case Accessories: None

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
