This is a highly desirable & made in the USA 1969-1970 Silvertone 1221 acoustic guitar also known as the Harmony Sovereign H-1260 & was sent to Scott Baxendale to have him perform his wonderful X-Braced conversion process (if you aren’t familiar with Scott and his conversion process, I would highly recommend you look him up online). This is a Harmony made jumbo bodied guitar w/a very nice Sienna Sunburst finished Sitka spruce top. Its back, sides & neck are all Honduran mahogany. It’s even has a bound Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard. He took this old ladder braced guitar and turned it into a forward-shifted, x-braced guitar and completely fixed the neck and any other imperfections, both cosmetic and structural. He literally breathes new life into these old Harmony, Silvertone & Kay guitars w/perfectly aged woods. These have the cool “Space Dot” logo, made with the letters “SR” for Sears and Roebuck and indicative of the times, as these started appearing on Silvertones around the time we landed a man on the moon in 1969. The iconic Harmony Sovereign & Silvertone Jumbos have been a favorite of song writers and recording artists for almost 60 years, used by many greats from Jimmy Page to Bryan Adams for its huge sound and incredible note definition. This Baxendale Harmony Conversion is loud and resonant with amazing projection and string definition, enormous throaty bass, smooth earthy mids and distinct, singing highs w/a rich organic sound that must be heard. I’ve heard someone describe this model by saying “I’ve never played another guitar that projects the full audio spectrum like the Sovereigns. I can only compare it to a piano.” Its excellent & crack free overall & comes in its Baxendale labeled hardshell case.
