Benjamins / Nick Benjamin OM English Walnut Cedar / 2005 / Guitar

Nick Benjamin built his first guitar in 1990, aged seventeen, on a table in his bedroom following Irving Sloane's wonderful 'Classic Guitar Construction' that he found in the local library. After having graduated as an Engineer at the University of Warwick, UK, he took lessons making steelstring guitar with Jeff Chapman in Brighton. Towards the end of his time learning with Jeff Nick also started to gain tuition from Stephen Hill, a renowned Classical and Flamenco maker based in Lewes. He set up his own workshop in 1998 repairing all sorts of instruments, but gradually the orders for guitars started coming in and eventually he was able to focus solely on building acoustic guitars. This classic OM or Martin 'Orchestra Model' sized guitar he built in 2005. The lines of this guitar are his own but the proportions are based quite closely on the original Orchestra Model. This shape produces a very concentrated tone ideally suited to both traditional styles such as Travis picking and modern styles in standard and D or G type open tunings. Both Eric Roche and Clive Carroll have owned and used Benjamin OM guitars. The body of this particular OM was made using English Walnut for hte back and sides mated to a Cedar top perfectly framed using rosewood body bindings and multi-layered wood top trim and rosette. The mahogany neck has a nice C-shape and holds an ebony fretboard and black Gotoh closed back tuners. The instrument has been played quite extensively and sounds open, rich and very powerful. Condition is Very Good; it has a decent amount of playwear and signs of use in the finish of both the body and neck. There is a (professionally cut) hole in the side which once probably held an XLR out from a previous pickup. The instrument now has a K&K Trinity (with preamp in the case) pickup installed. Other additions are the strap button on the heel and the clear pickguard. Includes hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
