Montreal-based Boucher Guitars have visited us with the request to represent them. They came with a bus-load of guitars and we choose what we thought would be the best two for us. And this 'Alancia' OM model made me decide we have to do it! This is an upgraded Boucher Alancia Goose Studio Orchestra Model with Adirondack spruce (AAAA) and Amazing Cocobolo back & Sides, a fully hand-made acoustic guitar made in Montreal Canada. This guitar sounds more than impressive, it's woody and crisp all over the fretboard, it's strong and percusive. Every Boucher comes standard with Adirondack spruce for the top, other features include OM size body, Mahogany neck with dovetail joint, Ebony fingerboard and bridge. Tusq nut and bone saddle, high gloss finish, Adirondack spruce scalloped X-bracing, 650mm (25.5") scale length, 45mm(1 3/4") nut width, 55mm (2 1/8") string spacing at the saddle, Soft V style neck, High-gloss nitrocellulose finish, Gold-plated Grover tuners.
This is a mighty fine high end guitar, comfortable and made with intriguing woods, beautifully detailed and made by Canada's oldest guitarmaker, Norman (Boucher) started making guitars in 1967, and the older players might still remember Norman guitars. Also Boucher is 'big in tonewood' and famous companies like C.F. Martin, Gibson, McPherson & Bourgeois buy their tonewood at Boucher. The tone of this OM is really impressive and stimulating to pick up the guitar and play another riff, Like i said this gutiar is the reason i started selling Boucher. First of all, the guitar is powerful, and every tone is balanced, clear and strong, the added dynamics, texture and color of Cocobolo rosewood is of a sonic excellence you only find now and then, with similar richness in overtones and reverb found in the madagascar 000, really a very joyfull experience.
