Brazilian Rosewood / Back & Sides Set / 1975 / Exotic Dark / Guitar
For sale an Old Growth Brazilian Rosewood ( Dalbergia Nigra, Rio Rosewood, Jacaranda..etc) Acoustic guitar set of back & sides.
I have taken pictures during day time, indoors and outdoors ( full sunlight ) so you may see better the colors and the grain. I did not use any flash light to alter the colors. The color and the grain speak by themselves. Very exotic and unique grain.
However, due to the long seasoning the surface is a bit blur and after the first sanding all the grain will come up at least 50% more intense. This type of Brazilian rosewood is extremely hard to find today and specially with this cut.
It comes together with its unique CITES document ( CITES PASSPORT FOR FREE INTERNATIONAL TRANSIT ) as it can be seen in the pictures. For the last 20 years, every Brazilian Rosewood component that I sell always comes with its own individual CITES doc as that being the only way to prove the legallity and the authenticity of our wood. We supply the same documents to Don Grosh (US), John Suhr (US), Warrior (US), Maton (AUS), Melville (AUS), Paul Richards (UK), Driskill (US ), and to many other boutique luthiers and individual collectors.
The wood is already planed so minimum sanding is required. The sides and the back are clean. Please see the pictures. There are no issues, such as worm holes or cracks. Very Clean!!!
This wood has been cut in the mid 70s and since then it has been air dried in the the shed in our warehouse. Absolutely top quality and extremely sonorous.
The set can be used for the back & sides of an acoustic guitar such as Dreadnaught, Grand Concert, Classical, Flamenco, OM type. However, please before commiting yourselves to buy it check the dimensions below if they are suitable for your project. If you do have a mold, then compare yours with mine. Each luthier uses his own molds and designs so it is practically impossible for me to know every buyer's requirement. This also applies to the width of the sides. Hence, I cannot be responsible for any error associated with the size. In case you have any doubts please ask me before buying it. I have marked the backs with my own mold and the dimensions listed below are taken from the markings. All the excess wood ( top, bottom and sides ) can be added to those dimensions.
The dimensions are : Back ( each piece ) - Length 51.6 cm - Width ( low bout ) 21.0 cm , ( upper bout) 15.3 cm - Thickess 4 mm. Sides ( each piece ) - Length 80.5 cm - Width ( wide side ) 11.7 cm , Width ( narrow side ) 10.9 cm- Thickness : 4 mm
I hope my description is as accurate as possible. Please see the pictures and feel free to ask me any question.
Also, please ask me if you need other Brazilian rosewood parts. No returns. Sale is final.
