Now in Stock: Busato Grand/Petite approx. 1940-1950

Custom options:

Approx. 1950 Busato according to the former owner, judging by the original tuners i'd say its more late 1940s but it's hard to be exact with Busato guitars, since there is no date in the guitar. Busato are one of the oldest lines of Selmer inspired guitars, and after Selmer the most sought after guitar by todays players.  Players associated with playing Busato guitars include Django Reinhardt, Mondine and Ninine Garcia, Dorado Schmitt, jean-Phillipe Watremez, Romane, Fanto and Yayo Reinhardt. There is no date on the label or inside the guitar dating a Busato, so dating can only be done approximately and judged by style. Busato had a "Petit model" and "Grand model" which, meaning 'simple' and 'deluxe'. In my book this is quite a luxurious guitar, except back and sides are made of mahogany, meaning i have no judgement over being 'petite' or 'grand' regarding this model. But i'm sure someone will enlighten me.  Features include a solid spruce top, Multiple bound top, 3 piece Walnut neck with one piece of ebony in the centre, indicating it's a bit older.

This is not just another guitar but an outstanding example of the Busato small hole, since it is in exceptional original condition with not cracks whatsoever, They are truly very special guitars, and each and every one looks different, now we have two, and both are completely different. It's said there are quite a few around in Europe, but they don't seem to cross my path often, this is only my 4th ever, and I'm in the middle of 'the promised land' meaning Europe. My best guess there aren't that many at all. I even had more Selmer crossing my path. This one is foremost in a excellent condition, and was pre-owned by a minister who played it in church every week.  The top is Crack-free and the guitar comes with a straight neck, thick original ebony slab-fingerboard, the frets however are changed, tailpiece and tuners are original, the tuners show a mix of knobs that are changed over the years, The Shellac finish is quite worn but still original. The curve of the top and back or- 'bombé' is still strong, original paper label in the guitar saying Busato.

The playability is excellent, it has the right action, and the right bark, Oh yes it's very loud also, but also a bit warmer in tone compared to other Gypsy guitars, and it has the right smell and feel which i find most important for vintage guitars. It comes in a good quality new case.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
