C. F. Martin & Co / 0-17 / 1934 / Natural Mahogany Finish / Guitar
This is a great example of what Martin specialized in…making such fabulous sounding small bodied models of all types. This is a very special early production 0-17 made in early 1934, 1 of just a few 14-Fret neck models available. Its Mahogany top is quite clean that’s been played a bit w/no repairs w/all of its original scalloped braces. Its Mahogany back & sides are also crack free & quite clean too. Its 1 piece neck feels very comfy w/its prominent smooth “V” shape, plays great & has a great neck angle. Its does have a perfectly repaired headstock crack 4-5 decades back, looks pretty decent w/no touchup applied. It sports a Brazilian Rosewood headstock veneer w/Martins early logo which is stamped on the back of its headstock. Its original open back nickel plated metal button tuners have been re-installed yet has Grover tuner washer impressions around each tuner shaft. Its Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard & bridge are still quite nice. Amazingly she still retains her original “Bar” Frets which Martin stopped by mid-1934 when the started using the more modern “T” shaped frets. If you ever wanted a killer playing & sounding 88 year old “0” size Martin…this is it. She’s very good overall & comes in a generic case.
