C. F. Martin & Co / 00-18 / 1963 / Natural / Guitar
Well what do we have here? A 1963 Martin 00-18
This is a fine example, the lacquer having thankfully been left untouched. The Adirondack Spruce top is in great shape showing only very slight sign of use and some minor dings. There are no signs of modification or any previous work having been done. There are also no cracks on the top, or on the sides or back and this is a very good thing..
The mahogany back and sides too are in fantastic condition with only a few minor knocks and dings.
The neck has been invisibly reset and the bridge replaced (original included) by Dave King Acoustics (Martin authorised repairer and the place to go for in the UK for vintage repairs) so it plays and sounds really well and is in good condition with a little wear to the lacquer. The fretboard and frets are in fantastic condition. Again the headstock still has its original finish and the logos still present.
The guitar comes with a superb original 1960s hardshell case that is more than likely the one this guitar came with.
If you’re here then you know how good these Martins sound. Balanced with a fullness that belies its size, this guitar is comfortable in any setting, be that finger picking or strumming; a tone that is so uniquely Martin. Easy to play with an almost instantly familiar feel and a sound that is sweet as a nut and with the recent neck reset, one that you can really enjoy to play.
A benchmark tonal touchstone, a vintage Martin is surely a must have for any guitar collection. Get this one, you won’t regret it!
