C. F. Martin & Co / D-21 Brazilian / 1965 / Brazilian Rosewood / Guitar

Okay whose Birthday is in 1965 ? Who would luv their collection to own the rarest D-21 ever ? You're looking at the very "1st guitar completed" in 1965 &  verified by Martins records that the very final 1964 Martin produced wore serial # 199626...this is serial # 199627 ! It's a rare version w/many 1964 features. Its stunning Sitka Spruce top is just about perfect. It’s got some of the best book-matched & straight grained Brazilian Rosewood back & sides that are simply perfect. Its got most all Martins best features including its Standard X-bracing, Style 21 rosette, its rare & original tortoise pickgard, Select Hardwood Mahogany neck, Solid Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard w/20 frets and Style 21 inlays w/a 1 11/16″ nut width. Its 2 coolest assets are its solid Rosewood Belly-style bridge w/a "thru saddle" a la 1964 which changed in early 1965. Its also sports perhaps the final of Martins "hide" glue on its complete body made in late 1964. It's got a set of perfect single line Kluson Deluxe tuners with metal buttons. Now 59 years old, this is a magical investment in all respects. Its near perfect original neck set has low action & the original bridge was taken down just a bit, she needs nothing at all but a good player. It is completely crack free w/no issues at all. It is truly excellent having only aged in color & in its overall tone quality. We luv “21” model Martins for their superior tone quality that’s better than any comparable “28” models. We feel the extra layers of bindings on the outer body crimp its tone volume on most D-28's as this D-21 has 1 layer of tortoise binding which allows more volume of tone to come thru. Other than some weather checking all over, its 1 of the best D-21’s made w/nice choice woods & tone. Comes in a nice late 60's period Martin black tolex/blue lined hard case.
