The CB "Model J" guitar is Chris' reinterpretation of the classic "round-shouldered" Dreadnought guitar of the 1930s, the J-35, with her cool looks and fire-stripe pickguard, The original round-shouldered Dreadnoughts were wonderful guitars, possessed of a somewhat warmer tone than the classic Dreadnought style, and are highly prized by modern Blues and fingerstyle players. The deep, rich bass offered by the larger body cavity of the round-shouldered Dreadnought makes for a very well-balanced sound, with clear, strong treble and rich overtones. Chris voices the hand-scalloped X-bracing of each CB Model J to maximize the tonal potential of the round-shouldered body while adding power and sustain not normally found in round-shouldered guitars. The CB-J is actually the same model Vince Gill is playing, (see clip below) although there are a few small differences.  Vince Gill is known worldwide as one of the greatest entertainers in Country music, and he has won more Country Music Association Awards than any other artist in history. His prowess as a singer/songwriter is matched only by his astounding abilities as a musician/Guitarist.

Coupled with the increased string tension offered by Chris use of the classic Dreadnought scale length (rather than the shorter scale length of the original round-shouldered Dreadnoughts) and the body depth and taper of the classic Dreadnought, this allows the Model J to realize the volume, power, and clarity of tone found in the classic Dreadnought while maintaining the balance, bass response, and warm tone quality of the round-shouldered body style. Careful selection of tone woods gives the round-shouldered Dreadnought its ultimate tonal realization in the CB Model J. The result is an instrument of sweetest tone and bone-crushing power, perfect for any style from Bluegrass to Country to Blues to the subtlest of fingerstyle Jazz; a guitar of power, tone, and uniquely elegant beauty.

Now back to this guitar, it is made in 2009, and based on a Italian spruce top and set of Hawaiian Koa with extra-ordinary tap-tone, really impressive and nothing like the middy Koa tone I'm used to, big punchy overall tone, crisp bass, very loud and balanced, almost like a Adirondack spruce top guitar that matured for some years, with impressive headroom and very focussed overall sound, but most remarkable is the punch and loudness. But this guitar has more to it than just power, it's also extremely refined when played fingerstyle, with great substance in every note. It's not for nothing that Chris called it one of the best sounding he made up back in 2009.

Other features include Mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard and bridge, Koa headstock overlay, Waverly tuners and typical CB custom inlays on the Headstock, heel-plate and fingerboard, straight bridge with bone saddle and fossil pins, ivoroid binding, black and white purfling lines, abalone soundhole ring. Regarding the condition, it's virtually spotless with a few tiny dings on the back against the binding, and a yellowish discolouration around the soundhole and the edges, typically for nitrocellulose finish. The Guitar comes with a quality case and is unique in its kind. After selling a few Chris Bozung guitars we decided to become Chris Bozung's dealer for Europe, since the guitars he makes are of such an impressive quality. (CLIP BELOW)

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
