Collings / D-2HA Custom VARNISH Indian Rosewood-Adirondack Spruce / 2013 / Guitar
Collings D-2HA Custom VARNISH (New) Indian Rosewood-Adirondack spruce, HSC
Many dreadnought players consider this Collings D2HA Varnish the holy grail of dreadnoughts. Concluding there is no better Dreadnought available, maybe except for the Herringbone 1930s dreadnoughts made by Martin and some of their Golden Era and Authentic models and one or two extremely high priced Brazilians. These old Herringbone brazilians come with price-tags starting at around 30.000€ and are only made for the lucky few who can afford them, luckaly Bill Collings decided to make the Dreadnought in the world available with Indian Rosewood back and sides. This extremely rare Collings is constructed with all the knowledge Bill Collings gathered over the years and is considered the closest thing to a pre-war with Indian rosewood back and sides. It is quite rare!
Now the Indian Rosewood used on this Guitar is impressive to say the least, and isn't called Premium Rosewood for nothing. It's dark and extremely dense and also looks very similar to Martin's Straight grain brazilian from their golden era. The Adirondack spruce top is of similar quality, virtually perfect wide to small grain structure. But the trick Bill Collings used to make this already very good guitar sound even more impressive then a standard D-2HA, is applying an old fashioned True Varnish coating. It’s a 2000 dollar custom option and not without a reason, it is a painstaking job which takes up several days for one guitar. The results however are very rewarding, the dynamics are unmatched by any other modern guitar. It's simply all you could wish for and probably more, when you never heard a Varnished guitar before in your life. It features 43.6mm (1 23/32") nut width/halsbreedte/halsbreitte, nickel Waverly tuners, 56.5mm (2 3/16") fingerspacing with 'drop in' saddle to acces a pickup and easy set-up. Impressive grained Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay has been made even more impressive with a great rose inlay beneath the collings logo. The somewhat yellowish Varnished guitars are visually spectacular and tonally the most impressive ever, with a deep dark growl, the warmth and that certain extra tonal dimension that I have been unable to give a name, even after all these years of experience. The neck on this guitar is standard profile, making it very comfortable to play. This new guitar comes with a heavy duty protective hard case.

The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out.
