Collings D2HAV Adirondack #7464, dating it to 2002, meaning it is already played in for 11 years, knowing how slow the stiff Adirondack planks open up a big advantage for those seeking matured tone. It's also equipped with the vintage neck, meaning 45mm width at the nut and 61mm stringspacing(!) a rare feature on a Collings. These Collings from "Austin Texas, USA" are simply 'Brutal' sounding Dreadnoughts and impressive tonally, favoured among Bluegrass players, who find these guitar the ultimate Banjo-killer. And i do agree. This D2HA features a perfect wide to small grained Adirondack top (Supposed to be the most dynamic) and premium indian rosewood back and sides that really looks fabulous with its colourful grain and structure that reminds of the best straight grain brazilian...Check out the pictures.
Often we are asked if it makes a lot of difference, Sitka spruce and Adirondack spruce.. believe me, it does, but it is very much depending on the player type you are which one will suit you best. In general the Adirondack is simply more of everything, and if you are strummer or a Picker, this should be your choice of wood. However if you are playing without picks and have a versatile style, you might choose for Sitka. to much for here to explain, but I gladly explain you why when you visit us or ask me!
Other features include scalloped bracings, Waverly open-back tuners, upgraded fossil ivory pins, bone nut and saddle, wooden herringbone purfling, 'dark as the night' Ebony fingerboard and bridge and on top of all that perfect feel and tone! The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood.
