Collings / D-2HHrA Varnish, Honduras Rosewood & Adirondack, / 2013 / Guitar
Collings D-2HHrA Varnish (new) Honduras Rosewood & Adirondack, Case
This is a new guitar from Collings, with a new type of wood replacing brazilian rosewood. It's called 'Honduras Rosewood' or 'Amazon Rosewood', and considered a perfect replacement for the highly appreciated Brazilian rosewood. This guitar is a dream guitar. Overwhelming Perfect for home use, a beast on stage and a refined machine when recording.
Many bluegrass dreadnought players consider the Collings with Varnish finish the holy grail of dreadnoughts. Concluding there is no better Dreadnought available, maybe except for the Herringbone 1930s and early 1940s dreadnoughts made by Martin and the extremely high priced Brazilian rosewood dreadnoughts. And that's where the Honduras Rosewood comes in. While These old Herringbone Brazilians come with price-tags starting at around 40.000€ and are only made for the lucky few who can afford one, Bill Collings decided to make the Dreadnought in the world available with Honduras Rosewood back and sides and varnish finish.
This extremely rare Collings is constructed with all the knowledge Bill Collings gathered over the years and is considered the closest thing to a pre-war with brazilian rosewood back and sides. And it is quite rare, Now the Honduras Rosewood used on this Guitar is impressive to say the least, it's super resonant, with a deep growling bottom end, it adds dynamics to a range that- if you are not familiar to guitars with brazilian rosewood- will shake you out of your pants! It looks quite similar to the old style Straight grain brazilian from the pre-war era, but it's obviously different. The Adirondack spruce top is of similar quality, virtually perfect wide to small grain structure. And the trick Bill Collings used to make this very good guitar sound even sound more impressive then it already does with nitrocellulose finish- is applying old fashion True Varnish coating, This is a painstaking job that can take up to several days. But it is very rewarding, the dynamics are unmatched by any other modern guitar.
It features 43.7mm (1 23/32") custom nut width, 57mm (2 1/4") fingerspacing with 'drop in' saddle for easy adjustment or installing a undersaddle pickup, 650mm (25.5") Scale length, other custom options are a Custom inlaid ebony peghead overlay with 'Flourish' inlay, style 42 snowflake fingerboard inlays, 3 style colourful herringbone back-strip. Standard features include: Honduras mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, ebony Bridge, Adirondack Pre-War style forward shifted bracing, Nickel Waverly tuners, Bone nut and Saddle, ebony bridge pins with pearl dot, The somewhat yellowish Varnished guitars are visually spectacular and tonally the most impressive Collings ever made, and the deep growl is very rewarding, the warmth and that certain extra tonal dimension that I have been unable to give a name, are simply the most inspiring tones you can pull out of a guitar. The neck on this guitar is standard profile, with a soft V, making it very comfortable to play. This guitar is definitely one of the best sounding Dreadnoughts in our shop and comes with its Hardcase, Collings deluxe hardshell case,

The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out.
