Collings / OM3-42 BA / 1994 / Guitar
There is quite a number of Guitar-'nuts' in my surroundings, and that of 'the fellowship of acoustics', that consider Collings Guitars the ultimate Flattop guitars concluding there have never been better guitars made previously, except for the pre-war 1930's and early 40's Herringbone Flattops made by Martin. The downside of these precious pre-wars are their huge price-tags, starting at around 50.000€ and going up to 250.000€ and more for a rare style 45 and only within the reach of a handful of lucky pickers that can afford to buy or if they are really lucky, inheritate one! Next to the huge Price-tag pickers that own one told me time and time again it's no fun taking a 50.000€+++ guitar on stage.
This extremely rare Collings holds all the pre-war incredients, including the Brazilian rosewood back/sides and Adirondack red spruce top. It's as close as you can get to the ultimate pre-war guitar according to many pickers, constructed with all the knowledge Bill Collings gathered over the years. On top of it all, this vintage Collings is rarer than any Pre-war herringbone, with the same tone-potential, and likely growing in value at a similar speed! The incredible set of Brazilian Rosewood used for back and sides is stunning quarter sawn. Brazilian brings out the best in guitars. It's not extremely clean and played a lot, you may notice the suffier buckle rash on the back and the two almos perferctly repaired cracks on top.. But all the passion put into it made it what it is today, a unique OM model with unmatched dynamics and presence. The Brazilian/Adirondack combination is still unmatched by any other tone-wood-combination. The deep dark growl, the warmth and that certain extra tonal dimension that I have been unable to give a name to, even after all these years of experience. Most striking when you play the guitar is its incredible deepness and dynamics. If you strum it hard, like i do, you will notice everyithing you have put in comes out. No holding back. This guitar lets you know you will have to work much harder to find its limits!
This OM3-42BA D invites you to explore its endless dynamic range. This guitar features a ebony fingerboard with Snowflake inlays, ebony bridge, Ivoroid bound body, fingerboard and peghead, Abalone Torch inlay on the peghead, ablone style 42 inlay on top, Honduran mahogany neck with modified V shape and 45mm (1 3/4") Width at the nut, 650mm (25.5") scale, 57mm Spacing at the saddle. Included are a B-band A2 pickup/microphone combination. Collings no long offers Brazilian Rosewood in its standard range or specs-list, and you may consider this 1994 Colligns a very rare guitar. Remember that is back in the days Collings only made around 200 instruments a year!. It’s rare, and expensive but more important, no longer available and virtually impossible to import from the US due to the brazilian rosewood restrictions. That is why these unique instruments are only available pre-owned. This beauty comes with its original Hard-case.

ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
