Cornell / RT100 Head / Red Tolex / Amp
£2000.00 / approx €2072.00,-.
Like the Custom 80 was designed specifically for Eric Clapton, the RT100 was designed solely for Robin Trower. Robin has been using our 18/20 Heads and Combos for recording and was so impressed with the Cornell sound in the studio that he wanted the same tone in live performance.
Initially, we made a 50 watt Head, but the tone and power were just not right. It was found that in different venues a wide range in tone and distortion resulted. Robin, being a traditional guitarist, does not get his overdrive sound only from a pedal and likes to drive the output stage of the amp. We designed the output valves to be switched so that the drive levels could be changed to suit various venues. The output valves switch from 6, 4, or 2, allowing the output to be driven hard without being too loud.
The prototype RT100 was used on the 2008 Tour of England and we are currently making one more to be used in Europe and two more will be built to go to America for Robin's 2009 Tour.
