This is Slaman carved L-5 Thinline Gobel. Daniel Slaman is a Dutch luthier based in den Hague and he has been making guitars for 35 years. Born in 1957, he made his first guitar around at age 18, and slowly turned from making classical guitars into archtop guitars. Since 1985 he's known for his great Archtop guitars. George Gobel was one of a handful of players honoured by the Gibson Guitar Company, during their Kalamazoo era. Gibson made a special guitar bearing his name; the Gibson L-5CT George Gobel Model. This Daniel Slaman L-5CES guitar is made after this model. The original model that Gobel played had the same features as this model, with a body depth of only 2.25”. This Guitar is very comfortable and features a carved spruce top, amazing birds-eye maple back and sides, 3 piece maple neck with ebony centre, bound ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays, 650mm (25.5”) scale length, a sunburst finish that is relating to Gobel’s original guitar that had a dark reddish finish, rounded cutaway, 45.5mm width at the nut. Despite the slim body depth, the guitar produced a very nice and relatively big tone. The guitar is equipped with Two custom Lollar Humbucker and is amazing and unique in many ways. This is a "one-off" custom-built L-5CTD Daniel Slaman in EC+ condition. The pictures are made before the polish, and it's looking very much better now! The guitar is sold in consignment.
