Dumble Story / Applied Acoustics History
In the late 1970s , two German brothers , Wolfram and Gondola Roam had a company called Applied Acoustics in Bochum West Germany , Applied acoustics was the authorised imported / distributor for mesa Boogie and Dumble Amplifiers for the European Market .In the early 1980s , the high US $$$ rate and even higher shipping costs created very expensive prices for both Mesa Boogie and Dumble Amplifiers Distributed in Europe . Applied acoustics made an agrement with Howard Dumble that he would Ship amplifiers without a cabinet ,speaker and transformers to save on shipping costs and the cabinets would be produced in Germany Also if customers wanted to add reverb or effects loop applied acoustics were authorised by Dumble to make these adjustments Therefore Howard dumble passed a lot of technical and build information regards to his amplifiers to his European partners Applied Acoustics , Dumble hand built the amplifiers himself and based on the six to ninth month lead time applied acoustics decided to build there own amplifiers under the Kitty Hawk Brand that would be an exact replica of the Silver Face Dumble Overdrive amplifiers that they were selling , these first 20 Kitty Hawk Prototype Models featured original Dumble Components , Boards , Spares that had Been Supplied by Howard Dumble for both service and production reasons , when Howard Dumble was aware of the Kitty Hawk Production he halted distribution with Applied acoustics and then started to Gunk His Circuit to hide his secrets , component layouts , the rest as they say is history
