EGO Ice Crackle preamp is the highest grade product in EGO Electronic, This is not only a tone machine, but also an "Art"!
This awesome looking is based on Chinese traditional windows, "ice crackle window", it contains passion of nature and art, but simple!
The most important part in Ice Crackle preamp is "TONE", to match its' great looking, Tone should be outstanding. I love tube amplifier overdrive, so I decided to put 2 tubes inside this Ice Crackle preamp pedal, I adopt special tube: a direct-heated subminiature tube! this tube has more transparent and harmonic tone than 12AX7, especially its' highest quality and super long life time! This kind of tube was used on Air Force!
I also have to solve a problem- How to make it with wild control range? most preamp has great tone, but you only can find one useful setting, it is a pity!
I designed a special tone control, you can dial any tone you want by 2 knobs and 1 switch: Presence, Treble and fat switch(see pic. red squire area )
treble knob+fat switch control high and high-mid frequency structure, presence knob can provide mid and low frequency control, this combination gives every guitar player the widest range tone control, no matter what kind of amp you use, you always find out great tone easily!
What does this preamp sound like? Threr are 6 kinds of high gain sounds and 2 kinds of clean sounds you can choose:
the high gain sounds: XTC, OD100, PITBULL, RECTIFIER, POWERBALL and HERBERT.
Clean sounds: twin and ODS clean,
The clean channel of Ice crackle preamp is exactly produced by 2 subminiature tubes, This clean tone really sound killer!
The high gain channel also has killer gain structure, one tube gives warmness and rich harmony, the other tube gives dynamic and transparent tone, when you play this preamp, you can feel a different touch response, faster, tighter and airy.
Choose your favorite high gain and clean tone, this will be your custom 2- channel preamp! you can also choose a mid gain-jcm800 sound to get a 3-channel custom preamp.
If you are a tone freak, you can ask me to use high grade capacitors to get more transparent tone, like boutique all tube amp head.
The Ice Crackle preamp has a tube loop on left hand side, you can use loop to enhance your delay and reverb effect with transparent tone.

I do not like pedal sound! I just love all tube amplifier, their tone are rich, full, 3D, punch and dynamic, so I devote myself to the tube amp world 12 years ago.
My first tube amp head is Marshall 1959 reissue, a vintage, super loud amp, it is a great amp, but it can not satisfy me, so my first mod and repair job is to give plexi more gain and tone, I replace every components in my 1959, change original PCB to a point-to-point board like new Marshall hand-wire series. I tweak every parts to get each "1959 series" like jmp, KT66 and KT88 sound! I also add one preamp tube to get modern high gain sound in my Plexi! To be honest, the idea of Marshall VINTAGE-MODERN is not new for me, I built this amp in my Plexi 10 years ago! I also built SLO, XTC and OD100 high gain channel in my Plexi, so I play a lot of overdrive head through this Plexi, Thank MARSHALL!!
Why do I begin to mod and repair my Plexi? the reason is pedal!! I read a lot of review, they say XXX pedal boost Marshall 1959/1987 great! sound fantastic! I try a lot of pedal like FD2, microamp, tube drive....etc, they make my 1959 sound compressed, like another thing, some frequency, punch and natural dynamic are disappear, I am very disappointed with this result , so I began to mod this monster by myself.
Now I want to help some people who fall in this hall, I hope each guitarist can spend more time to create their music to let more and more people happy, not to trade a lot of pedals, so I establish this brand "EGO Electronic", I expect that everyone can "find your ego, not find a lot of pedals".
