EGO Electronic / TM-2 Classic Gold / 2014 / Effect
Most distortion and overdrive pedal have full gain, but they always have a problem, flat gain structure and touch response! Do you remember your first time to play a boutique tube amp head? every frequency have each position, it is a real 3-D tone. Most pedal can not give you a rich gain structure and punch like tube amplifier, only TM-2 classic gold can give you a real high wattage tube amp-like overdrive sound.
TM-2 Classic Gold also have a great feature: the most open sound! it means every boost pedal can get great tone as they boost TM-2 , some boost pedal only sound good when they boost tube amp like classic jcm800, Plexi....etc, if you have TM-2 Classic Gold, you can easilly get great classic rock tone in every amp! I love yjm308 and zw-44 to boost TM-2!
TM-2 classic Gold has 4 kinds of high gain sound, blue(XTC), red(OD lead), grey(bull) and purple(Rectifier), each one has a classic Jcm800 type low gain to be boosted by your pedals.
EGO also design a great EQ system to control your tone in widest range, this EQ system contains Treble, Presence and Scoop, dial treble and presence carefully, you can find a lot of useful overdrive tone.

I do not like pedal sound! I just love all tube amplifier, their tone are rich, full, 3D, punch and dynamic, so I devote myself to the tube amp world 12 years ago.
My first tube amp head is Marshall 1959 reissue, a vintage, super loud amp, it is a great amp, but it can not satisfy me, so my first mod and repair job is to give plexi more gain and tone, I replace every components in my 1959, change original PCB to a point-to-point board like new Marshall hand-wire series. I tweak every parts to get each "1959 series" like jmp, KT66 and KT88 sound! I also add one preamp tube to get modern high gain sound in my Plexi! To be honest, the idea of Marshall VINTAGE-MODERN is not new for me, I built this amp in my Plexi 10 years ago! I also built SLO, XTC and OD100 high gain channel in my Plexi, so I play a lot of overdrive head through this Plexi, Thank MARSHALL!!
Why do I begin to mod and repair my Plexi? the reason is pedal!! I read a lot of review, they say XXX pedal boost Marshall 1959/1987 great! sound fantastic! I try a lot of pedal like FD2, microamp, tube drive....etc, they make my 1959 sound compressed, like another thing, some frequency, punch and natural dynamic are disappear, I am very disappointed with this result , so I began to mod this monster by myself.
Now I want to help some people who fall in this hall, I hope each guitarist can spend more time to create their music to let more and more people happy, not to trade a lot of pedals, so I establish this brand "EGO Electronic", I expect that everyone can "find your ego, not find a lot of pedals".
