Electra / Futura X1-PW / 1983 / Pearl White / Guitar For Sale
I guess I'll always have a soft spot for '80s guitars, no matter what name is on the headstock. Maybe it was the pointy bodies or them being cool-looking chunks of wood with twin humbuckers, but everything about that era of guitars and basses brings very fond memories and that brings me to this Futura...
A guy and his wife were walking this guitar around the Mesquite guitar show and many dealers barely gave it a look. Heck, I've seen 5-latch vintage brown Gibson cases not get noticed these days, so nothing surprises me anymore. Well, I've been humbled on more than one occasion for not asking what was in a case, so I stopped the couple and did exactly that- asked what was in the case. The guy smiled, opened it up and there sat this Futura, as pretty as a peach.
Something else I can greatly appreciate in this day and age is a guitar that decades old and has been well cared-for. Come to find out, the owner of this Pearl beauty collected Electras over the years and passionate about Japanese-made guitars. The gear coming out of the Matsumoku and FujiGen factories was some really great stuff for a long time, so when I picked this Futura up and strummed it, that fact was instantly confirmed.
This X1-PW has been loved for a long time. It's an exceptionally clean and original example- I rarely see them this nice anymore. There are a few light surface scratches and a couple of tiny dings on the edge, but, as an overall package, this one is the cleanest example currently on the market. It has been detailed, restrung with fresh strings and set up for maximum playability. Oh, we also scrubbed and vacuumed the case too so that there would be no surprises on arrival
If you have ever popped the case on a nearly 50-year-old guitar or bass and it immediately brought a smile to your face, then you'll understand everything I just wrote. Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
