If I had been able to get my hands on one of these Bongo 5HHs back in the day, my first five-string bass would not have been a Modulus Q-5. Nope, I would have cut my teeth on one of these incredible basses and died on that particular 5-string hill. In saying that, there are two things to say about this bass from the first note played;

First, it has an incredibly aggressive and full tone thanks to the twin E.B. humbuckers. There's no questioning that fact and secondly, it has one of the tightest B strings on the planet. There's no floppy .130 B on this beast- it sounds like a low-end piano, especially when played with a pick.

Before I even had my time with this bass, I sent it to my tech/ wizard, the one known only as "El Jefe" who set it up with nice, low action. Now we have a bass that can hold its own in any situation and I'll put it up against any 5- banger out there. You want to cut through a wall of Marshall stack noise? Just plug this Desert Gold leviathan into an SVT or SM-900 and you'll have a pissed-off, 5-string wolverine in your hands. This bass has no fear, I assure you.

I can't find a mark on this bass save for the few tiny dings on the end of the headstock, as pictured. The original hardshell case is also in a very excellent condition and it will be hard to believe this bass package is now 21 years old!
