Ernie Ball Music Man / Stingray, 2-EQ / 1994 / Natural / Bass For Sale
I can say this with a fair amount of certainty; Back in the glorious '80s, we never asked or questioned how much a bass weighed. Now, every once in a while, my bandmates might grumble about my tone or the addition of yet another Ampeg 8 x 10, but they never, ever heard me complain about any of my basses' weights. Hell, I got through a couple of years with a trans-teal Stingray that had to weigh north of 12 pounds and I used to jump off the P.A. at Danny's Rock n Roll Bar with it. That said, my current lower back might question the wisdom of my youthful antics, but I promise it was all done in the true spirit of Rock-n-Roll.
As to this particular Stingray, it breathes the air of a solid funk machine from the moment you first open the case. No frills or fancy whistles- you pull it out, you plug it up and you get to work. One must have a certain amount of appreciation for a world-class instrument that can achieve a solid and desirable tone in a span of seconds and can be used in almost any musical situation. I always loved the fact that Paul Denman did all that crazy killer work for Sade with nothing more than a natural Stingray (check out the bass solo in 'Smooth Operator') and his is one of the best bass tones I've ever heard. Like they say, "It's all in the hands, man."
As to condition, this is an exceptionally clean bass. There is some light pickswirling on the pickguard, but I cannot find a ding or scratch on the body or neck. Fact is, I think she shined up quite nicely and you'll be pleased with the deep figuring of the Ash body. A second, NOS black pickguard is included in the package in case you get in the mood for something a little different. The bass has been detailed , restrung with a fresh set of strings and set up and checked for proper operation. Conclusion: She's a 9 lb, 9 oz stunner!
It's a pro package overall for a great price, so please take a look at the pictures, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
