By the end of the '60s and beginning of the '70s, modifying a Telecaster's neck pickup cavity to fit a humbucker had become a sort of common mod. In 1972 a new Tele featured this right from the factory, the Tele Custom.
The fact of using two pickups so different from each other does offer a big range of tone possibilities, making it easy to cover a huge amount of styles that go from country, jazz (yup, the neck pickup does its thing) and blues to modern hard rock.
But the fun of featuring two pickups like these is not so much in using them separately as it is in combining them. It wouldn't be an easy task if it wasn't for the independent tone/volume controls for each pickup, though. When combined, the nice single coil's bite plays along with the warmth of the humbucker, giving you a lot of depth.
Great twang and rich tone, ash body, beautiful 3-tone sunburst and a super cool 70's look define this great average-weight guitar, which includes an elegant G&G vintage-style hardcase. The ashtray cover loos amazing over the bridge, despite not being too comfortable to play with.
In practically new condition, here is another guitar that was played for a while and the unexplainibly sentenced to the dark corner under the bed from then on... until it got to us. The pickguard protective plastic is still on! Don't let this chance get away, these are hard to get since they've been out of production (only Mexico and Custom Shop versions available today).
