After a long comparison between an original 1957 Fender Champ and a Reissue, we finally threw this '58 in too for the sound demo hoping to discover which one was the best of all three.
It is a 1958 Champ in exceptional condition, 100% original except for the OT, which is a Mercury Magnetics (the best replacement in the market). All the rest of the circuit is untouched, but we wanted to make sure it was functioning properly before putting this up for sale. We had it checked thoroughly by a tech, and we're happy to say that the circuit is in great working order (no leaks or anything!!). No hum (insanely quiet, unlike many modern copies) or rattles (one of these amps' main problems, though easy to solve).
The tweed is in amazing condition (almost looks impossible it's over 50 years old), with an overall EXC+ condition. You know how hard it is to find a 57-58 this clean...
The Champ is a transition 57/58 (very late 57, super early 58). The speaker is dated around the last weeks of december 57, but the rest of the amp is early '58. It has the original Oxford speaker, in all-original condition (not reconed), and it actually sounds amazing. You can hear it perform in the Triple Champ comparison video, where this one beats the other two right away.
Incredible twang, superb warm clean tones, and insane overdrives. Pure Class A sound, a must-have for any serious studio, and a heck of a treat for any home player.
NOS tubes (not original, but from late 50's/early 60's) except for the JJ preamp tube. Original 110V transformer, so if you're using 220V you'll need a step-down adapter, which is included.
A great chance to get this magnificent piece of history that seems to have hardly noticed decades go by.
