Fender / Coronado II / 1967 / Olympic White / Guitar

https://truevintageguitar.com/blogs/previous-inventory/1967-fender-coronado-ii-olympic-white

The Fender Coronado was introduced in 1965 as a response to the success of popular hollowbody guitars like the Gibson ES-330. While similar to Gibson’s ES-335, the Coronado’s body differs in that it is fully hollow without a solid center block. The Coronado’s body and neck were made and finished by Fender but the wiring harness was sourced from electronics manufacturer Rowe Industries (DeArmond). Rowe industries also made the ever rare and desirable DeArmond R5T and R15T amplifiers. The Coronado II featured two pickups, a three way toggle switch, and volume and tone for each pickup. The tone is very different from Gibson’s P-90 equipped ES-330 in that the Coronado is much brighter with more clarity. The single coil DeArmond pickups are as visually attractive as they are tonally unique and musical.

This 1967 Fender Coronado II was the lucky recipient of the rare Olympic White with matching headstock nitrocellulose finish. All parts are original to the guitar and in excellent working condition.  The finish is clean and generally unfaded with a few bumps and a spot on the top that is lightly discolored. The original Victoria Luggage case is solid and in fine working condition. The frets have almost no wear and the neck is straight. The electronics have been cleaned and lubricated and operate as new.

The Coronado II was made to compete with other guitars on the market in the 1960s. The result however was a completely different instrument with unique tone and visual appeal. The attractive custom color finish and matching headstock make this guitar a rare and desirable vintage collectible as well as a quality tool to make music.
