Most people think of it as a poor man's Telecaster or a forerunner to the Tele, but that is simply wrong. Yes, the Esquire sports only a single bridge pickup while the Telecaster has two pickups, but the Esquire is not a Tele with a missing neck pickup. Rather, it is a distinct model with it's own sound. This is because of its unique wiring and also because the lack of a neck pickup causes less magnetic pull on the strings. This reduced pull gives the Esquire a more percussive attack, more harmonic overtones, and makes it more responsive than a Telecaster. That being said, I can't listen to Bruce Springsteen without thinking about an Esquire. I know, most of you think he played a Tele, but nope, back in the 70's, he played an Esquire. As for this guitar, it's as sexy as they come- just look at it! Double- bound body and more fun than a drunk stripper on Friday night after a Motley Crue concert. Not for nothing, the neck on this animal is unbelievable: flamed to death and the size of a full- grown dog. This Esquire must have been a custom order becasue we've never seen a neck like this except on a Masterbuilt guitar. It weighs in at 7 lbs, 6 oz and just oozes attitude.
