Fender / Electric XII / 1965 / Candy Apple Red / Guitar
On the back wall of our lounge/showroom and fittingly next to the obligatory ‘No Stairway’ sign, what you will find is our latest arrival, this gorgeous, custom colour, Candy Apple Red 1965 Fender Electric XII in all original condition with its original case.
Some say including us, the best designed and best sounding electric 12 string ever made and you do not have to take our word for it - a quick Wiki search will reveal a plethora of players from all disciplines who embrace, or have embraced this iconic 12 string. In fact our last sale of a custom colour Electric XII went to one of the hottest bands of the moment with a very young average ago so it is truly a guitar that transcends generations…
This particular, first year example is in rare original custom colour Candy Apple Red with the earlier silver undercoat and looks superb. There are a few dings here and there plus some checking in places but the headstock face (usually the first to peel) is in excellent condition.
It is all original or correct with not a single solder joint disturbed. All 4 pickups work superbly well, are evenly balanced and provide quintessential jangle of the variety you are all familiar with.
Action is really low which is a no brainer for an electric 12 string in our opinion and the guitar is lovely to play all up and down the neck with spot on intonation (another no brainer). Original frets are in great shape as is the lovely figured rosewood fingerboard.
Being the first year of issue, it has the nicer Kluson double line tuners fitted instead of the F style and these work really well too. The icing on the cake for us is the inclusion of an original Fender case as these seem to get lost fairly often and trying to find one of these on the open market is a tough call.
Come down to our lounge, pluck it from the wall, give it a strum and find out exactly why these very cool offset 12 strings with the odd ice hockey bat headstock are so highly regarded…
