All original 1966 Fender Jaguar with bound dot neck - same era as Kurt Cobain’s Jaguar. Nice flame figure on the back of the neck, some natural play wear and the sunburst has faded to an attractive tobacco burst giving it a distinctive look.

Here is an early 1966 example that is in very good to excellent overall condition, and has the relatively short lived, and sought after, combination of a bound neck with dot inlays. The foam in the pick-up cavities and on the mute has been replaced as the original foam had perished (a common problem) but other than that the guitar is completely original with no repairs or touch up and unbroken solder joints throughout. There is some natural play wear on the back of the neck, and the body has some light lacquer checking along with a number of small dings and nicks to the front and back of the guitar, as well as some light buckle rash. But overall it has been well looked after and is in great shape for a 58 year old guitar.

At some point a previous owner 'Elliott' had their name and social security number lightly engraved on the neck plate which adds an interesting bit of history to the guitar.

The neck is dated April 1966 and the lead circuit pots are dated to the 12th week of 1966. The back of the neck and headstock features some very attractive flame figure. The neck profile is a slim to medium C profile typical of the era and is effortless to play.

The pick-ups and switching options (which can appear complex to the uninitiated, but are simple to use once you spend a little bit of time getting familiar with them) offer a wide range of tones. Essentially there are 7 different tonal configurations - on the lead circuit you can have bridge, both and neck pick-ups in either normal setting or with the 'cut' switch engaged which thins the tone out. Then on the rhythm circuit the neck pick up only is selected with a bass boost. This circuit can be useful when using the guitar with a fuzz box or the volume can be rolled down to turn it into a kill switch.

If you are looking for a vintage Jaguar, particularly one with the short lived bound neck with dot inlays, then here is an original example in very good to excellent condition that has it's own unique visual character thanks to the faded burst which now looks like an attractive tobacco burst.

Comes complete with the original black tolex Fender badged hard shell case, the original mute and the bridge cover.
