One of the first things Lee taught me when I got into this business was to learn to recognize cases. If I see anything from a Goya Rangemaster case to a brown ES-335 case come into a guitar show, I automatically know what should be in there and usually am rewarded with a clean, vintage guitar or bass if the case matches the piece. So you can imagine me lighting up when I spotted this very nice, tail- logo Fender case come into the Philly Guitar show a few weeks ago. I thought to myself, "That's either a clean P or J bass" and in no time, had the owner in our booth. We knew this gentleman from previous Philly shows and had once bought a '62 Strat from him the year they held the show in New Jersey, so when I opened the case, it was "ta- da" and this custom colored Jazz lay before us. It really doesn't seem to matter what the market does over time: these blue- chip investment pieces always do well and are just as coveted today as they were back in the Wild West days of '04-'08. This particular beauty has the original case, tags and both pickup covers, so the package is complete and that world- renowned growl is all there.
