Fender / Jazzmaster / 1965 / Ocean Turquoise / Guitar
We can count the number of original dot neck Ocean Turquoise Fender Jazzmaster guitars we have seen (not sold) on three fingers and the number of dot neck Ocean Turquoise Jazzmasters we have sold on one finger. In fact it bearly takes two arms to count the number of 60’s Ocean Turquoise Fenders we have seen of any type - this custom colour is so rare.
Yes, this is an all original, super duper rare, Ocean Turquoise Fender Jazzmaster from 1966 and it is just about near mint condition. If you are collecting custom colour offsets then this is probably one colour you may not have in your collection and you will struggle to find another example of so read on and enjoy the pics.
Beautiful and largely unfaded Ocean Turquoise all original finish with matching headstock in fantastic condition. We were originally told this was Sherwood Green but after some research we now believe it is actually Ocean Turquoise. Whatever the colour is, you can guarantee both Ocean Turquoise or Sherwood Green are up there with the rarest custom colours on the planet. Very few dings as you can see from the pics, just a few by the bottom on the top and some checking here and there. Matching headstock is in excellent shape and has a fully intact logo.
Neck is just as unfaded as the body is and is nice and light, hardly yellowed at all. All plastics are still white, not yellow and all hardware in in really good condition. The only part we may question is the bridge but according to a long time previous owner this has been on the guitar for many a year and should you wish to replace it, it is an easy part to find.
Included is a strap, a lead, a cloth and an original 1966 catalogue and original 1966 Fender price list which together with the original and very clean case, makes a very nice package indeed.
Serial number dates to mid 1966, neck date is March 1966, pots date to 12th week of 1966 and all original pickups date to mid 1966. We cannot see a single solder joint that has been touched or disturbed on this phenomenal guitar.
Both pickups work superbly well and are in total balance, even the pots all work well. The action its set really low and it is a very nice and easy guitar to play. There is very little wear on the original frets and virtually no rutting on the lovely and figured rosewood fingerboard. In fact we can really find little to complain about on this superb example.
So there you go, find another time again at ATB Towers. We think this will be a tall order and this prime example of a super rare custom colour is actually very well priced to fit in with even the more discerning of collectors.
Snooze and ya looze….
