Fender / Jazzmaster / 1977 / 'Targetburst' Sunburst / Guitar
This 1977 Jazzmaster has all the later CBS era features: block inlays and binding, a black pickguard with white whitchhat control knobs, an ash body and a bright ‘targetburst’ sunburst polyester finish. Although the red from the sunburst faded a bit this guitar looks remarkably well for it’s age with only a few small marks and scratches.
Like many late ‘70s ash bodied Fenders this is quite a heavy guitar. The weight does seem to add sustain especially with some overdrive added which makes this a very suitable guitar for a (stoner-)rock playing style. Whatever drive or fuzz is used the clear and bell-like sounding pickups never loose track.
