Without any doubt, the best Masterbuilt Strat we've ever tried, and definitely in our top 5 ever. Here's why:
Sometimes we come across a guitar that excels in certain sonic aspect. Resonance, sustain, tone, harmonic response, playability, balance... you name it. It is of course possible for a guitar to have good results in all these aspects, but in this particular case something really special has happened. Resonance and electronics excel in a way we've rarely ever seen before. The resonance is huge, making all the guitar vibrate all the way to the neck and to your hand, making you feel all those harmonics in a unique way, through "pure transmission". And the pickups not only transmit them, but take them to their highest level. Perfect definition: upon note attack, instead of muddy results you get really bright harmonics that outline the rest. It's just beautiful.
Easy to play, with a super comfy C neck, medium jumbo frets that work great with the 9.5'' fretboard, making you feel it's one of those that "plays by itself".
Beautiful reddish rosewood fretboard, looking very healthy too, with amazing grain. Light alder body painted in a stunning Dakota Red, finished in nitro, which was nicely checked all over in the Closet Classic relicing process. Very little playwear (some on the back horn), hardly any fretwear too. Yes, it has been played, but not much. It should've been played to death, and we hope you will. This one just doesn't deserve to be stored in the case, not ever.
No, we still haven't brought up all the 1969 Woodstock/Hendrix hype, but it was indeed a '69 like this one (in Olympic White and maple board). What we're sure about is that the man Jimi himself would've liked this one. We mean it.
