Fender / "Pearl Jam" Custom Shop Stratocaster (#1725) / 1992 / Burgundy Mist / Guitar
This exceptionally beautiful Burgundy Mist Stratocaster was specially made in or around June of 1992 by two of the great Fender Custom Shop Master Builders - Art Esparza and Herbie (Bert) Gastellum. We believe that this guitar was specially made for Pearl Jam guitarist, Mike McCready - who frequently uses Fender Custom Shop Stratocasters with a "10-56" neck profile. The top of the guitar is signed in black marker by Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready. The guitar weighs 8.10 lbs. and has a nut width of between 1 5/8 and 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. One-piece alder body, one-piece 'flamed' maple neck with a typical "10/’56 “Boat Neck” Shape," and 'flamed' maple fretboard with 21 Vintage Style 'jumbo' frets and black dot position markers. Headstock with Fender 'Spaghetti' logo in gold with black trim. The tuners have been replaced (by Mike McCready?) with Fender® Schaller® American Series DeLuxe tuning machines with chrome half-moon shaped buttons. The back of the headstock has the gold oval decal of the Fender Custom Shop. Four-bolt neck plate with serial number "V059055" stamped between the top two screws. Three specially wound 'vintage-style' black bottom pickups with balanced outputs of 8.38k, 7.32k, and 7.11k. Three-layer white/black/white plastic pickguard with eleven screws. Three controls (one volume, two tone) plus five-way selector switch, all on pickguard. White plastic knobs with gold lettering. Fender American Standard combined bridge/tremolo unit with special 'graphite' saddles. The potentiometers are all stamped "R 137 9109" (CTS March 1991). The bottom of the neck has the red "Custom Shop / Fender USA" stamp with "10-56" in red marker and also the red stamp of "Art Esparza". It is also stamped in black "H. Gastellum" and it is also signed in black by him. The end of the neck is stamped in black "May 15 1992". The neck pocket also has the same two red stamps and is signed in blue marker "Art Esparza / 6-92". The pickup and control cavities have been specially shielded with gray paint to reduce hum. The underside of the foil shielding on the pickguard is marked "LO". As stated earlier, we believe that Mike Mcready had the control cavities specially 'shielded' and at the same time replaced the standard tuners with Schallers and the 'string-tree, the nut and the bridge saddles with 'graphite' versions. This guitar is in mint (9.50) condition. Housed in the original G and G Vintage style light-brown tolex hardshell case with brown leather ends and red plush lining (9.50). (#1725)

We specialize in acquiring and offering the finest specimens of American vintage electric guitars with particular attention to those in their complete, original state. We are the only dealer to embrace a written code of ethics (in Terms & Conditions). We encourage you to read it.
HOW WE WORK
We want to inspire and win your trust and confidence. You don't want to have any negative surprises upon receipt of an instrument that you've invested yourself as well as your money into. Nor do you want any untoward surprises should you decide to sell it in the future.
To that end, every guitar that we offer is catalogued to a degree and depth of detail that is fast becoming the standard in the trade. When we declare an instrument to be completely original, it is. If it is not, we tell you exactly in what manner it has been altered.
We photograph each guitar at many angles to provide you with the broadest, clearest sense of its appearance. We will, upon request, provide you with images of all electronic components, inside and out.
Each guitar we acquire is skillfully and painstakingly dissected by David Brass, who is a trained luthier as well as a dealer and collector. All parts, no matter how small, are meticulously examined. We have an enviable reference library of wide breadth and scope that we refer to when necessary for crucial facts. The instrument is put under a black-light: original finish or refin? Even the most skillfully masked ding is uncovered. David then fastidiously reassembles the instrument. It is then cleaned with the finest products available for wood and metal.
An inspection certificate of authenticity signed by David is provided with every guitar you purchase.
We keep our inventory relatively small and highly select. We choose our guitars with extreme care so we can offer you the finest examples of the finest rare guitars in the world.
We are client focused to an extraordinary degree. If you expect or would like to be surprised by courteous, professional client service, we will pleased to accommodate that desire.
It is our fervent wish to establish a long-term relationship with you.
