This is a very special early production 1st issue example of Leo’s most famous design…the 1952 Precision Bass. This bad boy was built within the 1st 6 months & is serial # 0060…that’s right its the 60th Fender off the production line. Purchased new by Bill Matty at Bridgeport Music Shop in Connecticut known well as the very 1st P Bass ever in the New England. This is from the famous Sandy Bodecker’s Bass Collection in Portland, Oregon over the last 2-3 decades. Its original Butterscotch Blonde finished “Slab” sided Ash Body is beautiful, quite clean & tidy from the front w/a good amount of buckle rash on its back side. Its pencil dated 3/18/52 w/Tadeo Gomez’s initials. Its early Maple neck construction has that cool deep dipped headstock construction still sporting its original frets & logo is pencil dated 4/24/52 also bearing T.G. having Tadeo’s approval. Its original tuners have the early shorter rounded shafts. Its cool Black Bakelite pickgard is in great original shape showing normal commensurate wear. Its single coil pickup has a magical tone like no other. Its got a set of the earliest type “Dome” Knobs w/a set of smooth back pots having no legible pot codes. Its original “Patent Pending” bridge has its historically signifcent stamped # 0060 still utilizing its original fat Bakelite Saddles. Lastly its rare back plate has no nomenclecture as it shouldn’t. It’s dead original in all respects. Plays perfect & is ready for its next caretaker. It comes complete its 2 chrome covers & an original black strap in its original Brown Tolex Gig Bag.
