Fender / Precision Bass / 1963 / Olympic White Refin / Bass
Late 1963 Olympic White Precision Bass is sometimes all you need.
The workhorse bass that formed the backbone to hits from Motown to the Clash and beyond, the Precision Bass is bass guitar, the Genesis of amplified low register and the blue print for the instrument for years to come.
The body has been refinished in Olympic White though there is evidence that the bass has been green in the past. It's not clear what the original colour was although highly likely to be sunburst.
The original neck has worn wonderfully and has had a clear overspray applied to it some time ago, most of which has already worn from the back of the neck. This bass has obviously been well used which is evident by the fretboard but there are no divots. It has been refretted a while ago but there is plenty of life left in the frets.
The pick guard has shrunk slightly over the years but not as much as you’d expect maybe. There is a little warpping but again this is very minimal. The foil shield is present and original. The screws have all been replaced.
The hardware is in good condition. The bridge has some corrosion but has been saved by the cover.
Electronically the volume pot is correct as is the capacitor and cloth wiring. The tone pot has been changed. The pickups have both been rewound to the correct spec by Monty’s.
The bass comes with a SKB hardshell case.
This bass delivers the right blend of growl and round full tone with authority without any need for bells or whistles. Just what you want!
This is an excellent bass with a brilliant story. With looks and tone like this, it won’t be here long….
