According to the previous owner, this was refinished by Dick Knight in the 80’s and was originally a fiesta red P-Bass. We have no proof of this but we can say that the original nitro green guard does indicate it was originally a finished in some custom colour.

Whatever the origins, how it presents itself today is a very nice, body only refinish, pre-CBS custom colour 1963 Precision Bass which looks great, plays great and sounds, well just as you would expect a 1963 P-Bass - great!

The neck and the decal are all original including the finish. The electrics are original aside from where it has been de-soldered to perform the body refin. Pickups, pots and hardware are all correct and pickups are the black bottom, classic pre-CBS style that everyone seems to love. Both pots are dated 1963 and neck date is July 1963, serial number is just after mid ‘63 so everything matches there.

Bass plays real well with no dead spots and has the classic, slightly fuller, 1963 neck profile which a lot of players seem to like. Included is a non original, Fender tweed re-issue type hard case that may be from the 80’s or 90’s.

Finish is very good and as is very old, has a nicely slightly worn look to it and it actually matches the original finish on the neck rather well. From a distance, no one will be able to tell you are playing anything but an original finish Fiesta red bass.
