"In the beginning was the Precision Bass."

  This is our 1983 LEFTY Fender Precision Elite II Bass with its original hardshell case. Part of the Elite series, this Precision bass marks an attempt by Fender to market a high-end active bass guitar. The bass is a solid Ash body with Maple neck, Rosewood fretboad and the best A neck imaginable. The Elite II is fit with two active single-coil pickups. The surrounded-by-the-pickguard pickup on the Elite II is found exactly where the pickup would be located on a standard, passive Precision. The Elite II’s second pickup (also a split model) is located by the bridge. The controls include two volume knobs, a tone knob, and two three-way mini-toggle switches; one a pickup selector, the other (as described in Klaus Blasquiz’s The Fender Bass) a “tone assign” switch. The bass is A LEFT-HANDED BASS in overall good condition with a few nicks and chips here & there and was recently set-up and is a real thumper. Bass weighs approximately 9lbs 12oz.
