This ain't no pretty, playful puppy, folks- this thing is DeNiro in "Raging Bull". If you ever wanted to walk into a room and smack your guitar player right in the mouth with an 8 lbs, 7 oz chunk of bottom end punch, this is the bass with which to do just that. It's a no- frills package to the ultimate degree: no covers, no thumbrest- just a bass and a case. You plug in and go to work, holding down the bottom, as it should be. It was once said to me that a good bassist never ventures above the 5th fret and I believed that until I heard Steve Harris on, you got it- a P- Bass. So if you want to do octave runs, no problem. The neck on this one is straight and great and the tone is a tank. Playing this Precision took me right back to the early days when I didn't care if my fretboard was made of Paduk and featured abalone dove inlays. No sir- the is the Ford F-150 of the bass world and every once in a while, I can't help grabbing a piece with a few scars because it takes me back. Back to it being just a bass, an amp and a pissed off bass player. Besides, I may not have always gotten the prettiest girls but I always got the ones that could fight...
